This new moon begins a cycle of acknowledging the potentially unpredictable nature of the material resources we rely upon to survive and planning accordingly. Driven by endless curiosity, myriad attractions and an energized imagination, there is a likelihood of acting impulsively, overlooking the possibility of disastrous outcomes.

I'm reminded of Aesop's fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper, where the Grasshopper hasn't made any preparations for winter because it spent the summer playing music.

When I use words like 'curiosity' and 'imagination,' these can span the full spectrum of negative and positive versions, from paranoid delusions to the power of positive thinking.

There could be some people who react by going down a conspiracy theory rabbit hole and becoming a prepper, stockpiling resources for potential disasters.

Others could become over-zealous regarding a personal ambition, going all in on a dream, only to later be hit with the hard reality of overlooked details.

I'm thinking the wisest approach here is to aim for a realistic and grounded approach. Whether some information is freaking you out or pumping you up, do good research to aid you in discerning the real truth of the matter. Use your imagination intentionally to come up with ideas that are neither terrifying nor phantasmic, but cautiously optimistic, functional and practical. Beware of the potential to act based on emotions, and check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Find ways to both play AND prepare for winter.
