Full Moons in General

Each lunation-- whether it's a new moon, a full moon, or an eclipse-- sets the tone for the next two weeks until the following one. But they also mark important pivot points in our lives, and connect with previous and future lunations six months apart. In other words, a new moon in Aries will be followed six months later by a full moon in Aries, which will be followed by new moon in Aries six months after that and so on.

Full moons coincide with the culmination of the past six months' efforts in a particular area of life. In the two weeks since the previous new moon, energy has been building. At the full moon, that energy is filled to the brim and ready to overflow.

Full moons involve tension between the physical, emotional state represented by the moon and the spotlight of visibility and attention represented by the sun. During a full moon these two luminaries are in polar opposite degrees of the Zodiac, trying to go in opposite directions and causing internal and external conflicts. This tension can be energizing and destabilizing, and the area of life that is impacted by a given full moon may feel as if it is overflowing and ready for some kind of release.

The sign in which a particular full moon occurs corresponds to a different life area (represented by houses in astrological charts) for each person depending on one's rising sign. Use the Topics by Rising Sign section at the end of this article to identify which area of your life will be coming to fruition at the time of this full moon. If you'd like a more personalized approach, a reading will provide more insight than any horoscope app or blog ever could.

If you had set intentions six months ago during the new moon in the same sign, use this full moon to take stock of how those plans have worked out. Whether you'd set intentions or not, think about which approaches you've taken in this area of life have served you, and which need to go in order for you to reach your goals. Then plan to drop whatever has proven to hinder your progress over the next six months.

This Full Moon's Chart Features

  • Moon in Taurus' third decan*, applying to conjunct Uranus and Algol, applying to sextile Neptune and trine Pluto: The physical, emotional, embodied world reaches a point of culmination in a place where unavoidable disasters, unexpected disruptions, wrath, vengeance, and frustrations with civilization converge. There is an easy flow between the embodiment of these themes and that which is imagined, as well as the underworld of traditional power structures

  • Taurus' ruler Venus in Capricorn's first decan, received by ruler Saturn in Pisces' second decan: Everything described in the previous bullet is responding to a desire to connect and harmonize with a variety of resources from different places. That desire is responding to and flowing with flexible boundaries and rules that separate earthly realms from heavenly ones.

  • Sun in Scorpio's third decan, exchanging domiciles with pre-retrograde Mars in Leo's first decan: Everything described in the first bullet is in tension with a spotlight on endless debaucherous desires. Those desires are in a feedback loop with directing others' attention* in order to achieve one's will. We'll be revisiting some actions taken during this time during Mars' upcoming retrograde.

  • Mercury in pre-retrograde shadow: Though not directly configured to this lunation, it's worth keeping in mind that communications, scheduling, contracts, shipments, commerce and other Mercurial things occurring now will be revisited when Mercury retrogrades from November 25th to December 15th. * I use Austin Coppock's book 36 Faces, an excellent guide to the decans, as a reference for writing these articles.

Summary

Illuminated by endless wants that may not serve us and focused on a particular spotlit area, we reach the point of maximum fullness with resources in a way that is unpredictable, unstable, vulnerable to disaster, and threatening violence. This volatility is responding to connecting with resources from a variety of places, eased by the flexibility of restrictions between them.

Things said and done now will be revisited, reviewed, and reworked in the coming months.

Implications

Be careful with this one! There are many factors in this chart that add up to a greater potential for danger than usual. People may be inclined to lose their heads. Despite solid planning, something out of your control can pop up out of nowhere to mess it all up. Rebelliousness is peaking.

Leave room for the unexpected today. Be extra cautious in situations where you or someone else could fly off the handle. If you live in an area with a high likelihood of being hit by natural disasters, consider assembling a go-bag just in case you need it. Similarly, you can prepare for potential stress by 'coping ahead' and making sure you'll have what you need to chill out if things get hot in a bad way.

Recommendations

  1. Review the past six months, specifically regarding material resources. Think back to what has happening during the Taurus new moon back in May 2024, and how things have been going since then.

  2. Check the Topics by Rising Sign list below and think about the corresponding house topics as well. Consider the actions you've been taking in these areas of life and whether they are helping you achieve your goals.

  3. Keep what's working, discard the rest. Leave behind activities that aren't bringing you closer to your ideal vision for material resources in the life areas specified by the rising sign list. Focus your efforts on those approaches that do work.
